EVIL BOY

October 12, 2010

We’ve posted a string of cool videos over the past week (Duck Sauce, Suckers, Foals). Now, by far the weirdest and most NSFW…

The clip is for Diplo produced “Evil Boy”, a song off of South African internet sensation Die Antwoord’s forthcoming album $0$. The group was picked up by Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Records last Spring. Since then they’ve played HARD NYC, HARD LA, supported MIA and seriously impressed the LA Times at Coachella. The strangest element of this video for me is not the crab claws, penises, breasts sans nipples, rats, self-fellatio, mud people, monsters, pentagrams or any of that traditional insanity – but rather Diplo and his questionable sex-offender mustache.

BARBARA STREISAND

September 28, 2010

Duck Sauce is the production duo comprised of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden (heavy stuff). For the video for their song “Barbara Streisand” they were able to recruit some of their best buds for cameos. Any video that features Santigold, Fat Jew, Kanye West, Yelawolf, Chromeo, Vampire Weekend, Quest Love, Diplo and more is a top contender for my video-of-the-year. Surprised this video isn’t being released by Converse or Apple or some other corporation trying to get in with the youth of today…

Matt & Kim, Diplo, Major Lazer @ Rock’n’Roll Hotel

June 22, 2009

Guest blogger and former college roommate Josh Walker attended the Matt & Kim, Diplo, and Major Lazer show at Rock’n’Roll Hotel last Saturday. He was kind enough to give us some insight into what exactly went down:

Diplo and Major Lazer put on an epic set at the Rock and Roll Hotel in D.C. on Saturday. 500 or so party goers cramed into the intimate venue to hear all three artists spin sets well into the night. While I regrettably missed the Matt & Kim set, I arrived just in time to see Diplo and Major Lazer take the stage together. The two spun mind-numbing and irresistably danceable beats while scantily-clad dancers put on a show fit for a strip club. The night redefined what constitutes a true dance party. Well done Bacardi for putting this show together.

Don’t Call it a Comeback….

September 10, 2008

…’cause I never really left. Yeah, three posts in the past two months. Yeah, there is an absurd amount of painfully good new music floating around the internets right now. Yeah, I could be writing about said music. Unfortunately for you all (or maybe fortunately, given my dearth of journalistic abilities), I have been practically M.I.A. for an extended period. While I have made promises recently to come back strong and haven’t really followed through, this time it’s for realsies. Lets catch up, shall we?

Since we last spoke, I’ve been on vacation a few times, moved into a new house, and found myself a nice job. For those of you who haven’t heard (see: everyone except my friends), I am taking a semester off of school to make myself some money and gain some valuable work experience. This means that I am living in Chocolate City (!!!), working weekdays, babysittin’ on the side, and now have ample new-music-searching-and-listening-and-then-sharing-with-you time. Brace yourselves, ’cause Adrian and I are not willing to let ATG go.

Since I realize that 99% of people that come here only come to snag free MP3s and not to read my eloquent soliloquies, here is a free MP3, with zero eloquence and nary a soliloquy.
