Weekend Update

May 11, 2008

Sorry for the delay in posting, I’m just finishing up my exams here in Madison. I have one tomorrow and one Thursday, and I’ll be heading back to the Chocolate City next Friday. Until then, here is a remix of MGMT’s “Time to Pretend” by Jorge Elbrecht (of Violens) which has been making the rounds recently. I’ll be checking them out in August for Lollapalooza, and you should catch them on tour when they come around.

Expect more frequency in the near future when I finally finish up here.

Spring Break Updates

March 22, 2008

Wow, sorry about that week-long hiatus. What with traveling woes and a relaxing vacation to San Francisco, I haven’t had much time to listen to new music, or update the site. But here I am, returning with a few nuggets of music goodness.

First, check out this track, “Stuck on Repeat”, which I snagged over at GWFAS a while back but hadn’t given a real listen to until recently. Little Boots dropped the proverbial bomb on us with this one, giving me another song to add to my running mix, fitting nicely alongside Daft Punks “Too Long/Steam Machine” and Bodyrox’s “Yeah Yeah”.

Next up is a remix of Timbaland’s “The Way I Are”, in which the original beat is pretty much completely swapped with Alice Deejay’s MEGA-JAM “Better Off Alone”. More like a mash-up then a remix, the “Better Off Alone” remix is one of those rare songs in which the sum is better than the two combined parts. Although, I could listen to “Better Off Alone” a million times before I got sick of it.

Lastly, I implore you readers to go back and listen to Rogue Wave’s last two albums, Asleep at Heaven’s Gate and Descended Like Vultures. Rogue Wave was all I listened to on the long flights to California, and it made the flights seem like nothing. Check out the fitting “California”, off of 2005’s Descended Like Vultures, and the Daytrotter Session of their beautiful single, “Lake Michigan”. How these guys aren’t considered as in the upper echelon of the music world is beyond me.

While I’m at it, listen to their cover of Buddy Holly’s classic (and one of my all-time favorite songs), “Everyday”. The gang from Oakland goes in a different direction with the song, yet it’s similar enough to still enjoy.

Big Changes Coming

October 23, 2007

First of all, its been exactly two weeks since my last post. That is way too long. I’m sorry. Please don’t leave me, I just had 4 midterms, 2 papers and my Mom visiting me here in Madison. Don’t think, however, that because I haven’t updated I don’t have a new arsenal of awesome music to deliver, or that I haven’t been scheming (schemeing?) up new improvements for the site. I have three important news updates for All Things Go:

News Update #1: OiNK was shut down =(. For those of you that don’t know (which seems now to be a relatively small group), OiNK is/was an invite-only website that allowed its 180,000+ users to upload and download hundreds of thousands of high quality music torrents. I received many of my advances and other albums from there, and it has been a very important asset in my arsenal. The FBI finally shut the site down, and while its only a matter of time before different sites pick up the slack, I’ll be hurting until then.

News Update #2: We are adding a new writer! His name is Ethan. Hes a sophmore at Wisconsin just like me, and is a newcomer to the music blog scene, so show him some love when he starts writing (which should be sometime this week). This addition also will allow us to update more frequently, so get excited for that too.

News Update #3: Band of Horses has created my favorite song of 2007.
