For those of you who think we’re just becoming a Chiddy Bang fanblog….well, you’re kind of right. But after Chiddy and Xaphoon keep dropping flawless remixes of Cee-Lo, Darwin Deez, Ellie Goulding, etc., can you really blame us? The latest gem is their reworking of The Naked & Famous’ “Young Blood,” which seamlessly works the original vocals and 8-bit sounding synths in with Chiddy’s trademark pop-culture riddled verses.
As an added bonus, check out Chiddy and Theodore Grams freestyle over the adorably hateful “Bad Day,” marking the third time Xaphoon Jones has remixed Darwin Deez.

Chiddy Bang just released the latest track off their upcoming EP The Preview and it’s nothing less than extraordinary. Featuring an incredibly infectious hook (courtesy of Q-Tip), “Here We Go” is affirmation the Philly duo are at their top of their game. Looking forward hearing the rest of 8 track EP when it drops next week.

Holy samples Batman! I know indie folk/rock samples are en vogue (see: Chiddy Bang, Hoodie Allen, Gilbere Forte), but this one might just take the cake. Newcomer G-Eazy provides some decent lyrics to an incredibly well-crafted sample of Tennis’ absolutely adorable “Marathon.” The song, about a clueless waspy girl, absolutely bangs. I promise you wont be let down.

Cee-Lo’s “Fuck You” has been blasting on the stereos of every ATG writer for the past few weeks, and since you’d literally have to have never encountered this series of tubes we call the internets to miss it, we opted not to post it. We will, however, post the inevitable Chiddy Bang remix of said uber-mecha-saiyen-epic-barbrastresand jam, entitled “The Fuck You (Remix).” In typical fashion, Chiddy raps over a Xaphoon Jones crafted sample of a popular indie track (see: “Kids,” “All Things Go,” “Under the Sheets,” etc.). The result is, predictably, awesome.

“The Good Life”, the first single off Chiddy Bang’s upcoming EP The Preview, is long-awaited proof that the Philadelphia based duo can in fact write a half-decent track without sampling a top 40 hit. Co-produced by Pharrell, the single is diven by an exceptional raw beat and is accented with catchy synth-laced hooks. While I don’t expect “The Good Life” to reach quite the same level as some of their past releases, I’m confident that it is a step in the right direction.

A relatively new and positively refreshing relationship has been forged between hip hop and blog-buzz bands. The ever-growing list includes Kid CuDi (who has sampled everything from Vampire Weekend to Band of Horses), Chiddy Bang (MGMT, Sufjan Stevens, Hot Chip, etc.) and Theophilus London (Discovery, Ellie Goulding). Now it’s time to add a new name to that list; Gilbere Forte‘ (pronounced Jil-bear For-tay). The Flint, Michigan native has just released a new single, “1st Floor,” and is blowing up the blogosphere with his clever integration of Freelance Whales “Generator ^ 1st Floor.” The track was produced by Passion Pit’s Aislyn, so naturally it’s flawless. Grab “1st Floor” below, and pray for more hip hop/indie incest in the near future.

Last time we checked in with Darwin Deez, he was rockin’ Adrian’s eardrums at Great Escape in Brighton, and before that he made a sweet little appearance on the most recent Valentine’s Day Mixtape. Needless to say, he’s well liked ’round these parts. More recently, however, the man’s been getting notoriety due to some timely remixes of singles off of his self-titled debut by the likes of Xaphoon Jones (of Chiddy Bang fame) as well as Mr. Flash. The well-known Ed Banger crew member chimed in with a retake on “Up in the Clouds,” giving the song a face lift with a trademark Ed Banger-esque synth drum and what sound like horns, but I can’t really tell. Regardless, “Up in the Clouds” is worth snatching so, you know…snatch it?

So, as many of you know, this site gets its name from quite possibly the most epically beautiful song of all time; Sufjan Stevens’ “Chicago.” While Sufjan himself has remixed his own masterpiece (see: Easy Listening Version, Acoustic Version, etc.), nothing truly held a candle to the original. That still holds true, but we can’t blame others for trying. You may wonder where I am going with this, so I’ll cut to the chase: Chiddy Bang is starting to build a rep for tackling some of the most interesting indie jams, sampling Passion Pit’s “Better Things” and MGMT’s “Kids” (chronicled here). The group just kicked it up a level with their newest jam, you guessed it…”All Things Go.”
Ok, so the rapping is not top notch. IT’S FUCKING SUFJAN STEVENS IN A RAP SONG. GO. LISTEN. NOW!

Grab a copy of their mixtape, The Swelly Express, over at Neon Gold.

Pardon the interruption, but I’m in Paris right now. First time in the most beautiful city in the world, and it’s everything I imagined and then some. I’ll be getting back to the writing come Monday, but until then, check this ridiculous hip-hop sample of MGMT’s “Kids”, courtesy of Philly-based Chiddy Bang. Normally, I’d reject anything from Philadelphia on the basis of my DC-centric ego, but goddam if the sample isn’t fucking hot. Granted, the verses leave something to be desired (Really? A Svetlana from Real World reference? Really?), but who cares.
Unfortunately, I must give credit to Derek of Neon Gold for the find, who always gets to things before I do, and thusly makes me look like a copy-cat. Damnit.
