Introducing: LINDSAY HOOD!

Boniver

So how the hell do you write a satisfactory intro post? They’re pretty much the worst. Some random chick on the blog you read saying, “hi there, my name is Lindsay” and why should you care? That being said, hi my name’s Lindsay and I’m going to be popping up here on All Things Go from time to time. (hee hee) I first met Zack and Adrian when they starting writing for The Music Blog over at mtvU, a project we all work on together. I guess Zack got tired of my little editing tricks and decided to turn the tables. Hence my invite to post on ATG.

What can you expect from me? Well there is one obvious difference between myself and your normally scheduled bloggers. I am a girl. This means that occasionally you will be subjected to my gushing over various front men (Justin Vernon ggggaaaaaaahhhhh) and the sporadic diatribe about how female musicians kick major ass (Annie Clark!) and maybe even sometimes, a play list created solely for the intention to have a good cry. (Try The Antlers and/or Nico Muhly for this last purpose.) I also really like parentheses. But since I’m up here in New York City, I’ll also try to give you as much information as I can about the concerts I attend, let you know how the musicians sound live, etc. etc.

My basic how-to for music listening? I want to invest in those artists/albums/songs that just emotionally gut me. Happy or sad, I want to feel as if whoever is singing/playing reached down into the depths of their heart and somehow, one way or another, poured it out into musical notes. It might be a tad cliche to say so, but it is my standard M.O. when it comes to track selection.

I’ll be writing about more current music in the future but I want to leave you, dear readers, with a little glimpse into my taste and I hope you enjoy. I do have to say that I am totally jazzed to be writing for ATG and feel really honored to be here.

MP3: Bon Iver – “Woods”
MP3: St. Vincent – “Marrow”
MP3: The Antlers – “Shiva”
MP3: Nico Muhly – “Quiet Music”
Welcome Lindsay!
