Three Degrees of Remix – Vampire Weekend, Lykke Li, Friendly Fires

You may have noticed that I’ve never posted on Lykke Li here on ATG before. Please understand that this is in no way an indictment on the Swedish starlet but rather there are a few bands or musicians that get huge, and for some completely unknown reason I never make an effort to get into them (see: Tapes’n’Tapes, The Ting Tings, and, up until recently, Hot Chip and Lykke Li). After hearing her awesome live cover of Vampire Weekend’s “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”, I figured a more thorough listen was in order, so I headed over to hype machine to find some more tracks (I mean I went to a record store and legally purchased her album). What I found there was not more Lykke Li material, but rather a delightful cover of her hit, “I’m Good I’m Gone” by none other than newcomers (and ATG favorites) Friendly Fires. In my mind, these guys can do no wrong, so naturally, I instantly fell in love with the cover. So now my iTunes is stocked with two more songs I love. I head over to Neon Gold’s blog to see what my friend Derek has got for me these days, and what do I see but a remix of Friendly Fires’ “Paris”, courtesy of suddenly-sought-after Belgian remixers Aeroplane. So after playing the six three degrees of separation game, I am left with three quality new songs to enjoy. And because I wield the power here (see: pay for hosting), now you do too. Enjoy.

MP3: Lykke Li – “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa (Vampire Weekend Cover)”

Our direct links will return soon I promise.

OK, I knew about the Lykke Li remix but had NO IDEA about the Friendly Fires remix! Awesome. I passed their album to a couple of people after I discovered through ATG and now we’re streaming “Jump in the Pool” at mtvU. I look very cool and ahead of the trend. Thanks 🙂

Can we retro-actively nominate them for band of the century?

Wow I’m unbelievably sick of zShare links that don’t actually work in my browser.
