Mojib – Whimsical Mixtape

You may remember Mojib as being the first of many very few “Spotlight On” features that we did here at ATG. The Swedish DJ is back with a semi-follow up to last year’s full-length, Whimsical Lifestyle. The Whimsical Mixtape is a two part series; both profound ambient mixes replete with lush synths and swirling orchestral instrumentation, not unlike contemporaries Sebastien Tellier and Sigur Ros. How fair are the comparisons to those two artists, you ask? So fair, in fact, that Mojib released “remixes” of songs from the two artists on Whimsical Lifestyle: “Break of Dawn” (which samples Sigur Ros’ “Staralfur”) and “Underneath” (which samples Sebastien Tellier’s masterpiece, “La Ritournelle”). If you remember those, go back and listen to prepare yourself for the Whimsical Mixtape. If you do not remember them, then grab them below.

The mixtape is being released semi-Radiohead style. The two parts are free, but donations are accepted (and encouraged). The second half of the mix will be released on N Records later this year as a limited release with an extended version.

Download the mixtape, which includes a beautiful remix of Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android”, HERE.
