Happy holidays everybody. I haven’t had any chance to sit and write a real post as I’m enjoying the beautiful weather here in Hawaii (it’s rainy and overcast every fucking day). However, the leak of Vampire Weekend’s debut LP and Groove Armada’s “At the River”, as well as my girlfriend sitting on the beach with me, are keeping me happy here in Kauai. Also, the thought of my Redskins getting in to the playoffs today with a win after all of the hardship we’ve endured this season, as well as my Badger’s awesome upset of #9 Texas at the buzzer have made me quite a happy camper. Enjoy a couple tunes that I’ve been pumping on the beach recently, and get ready for my top albums of 2007 post, which is still under construction, and might not make it out until 2008. Yeah, I’m lazy. Wanna fight about it?
The first song was introduced to me by my roommate, Josh Walker, and is the perfect song for sitting on the beach, soaking in the rays (or lack thereof here). Bert Jansch provides “Courting Blues”, a song I discovered after doing some research on Jansch upon hearing his lovely music on the superb Squid and the Whale sountrack. Lastly, Adele contributes “Hometown Glory”, which sounds like the perfect love-child of Kate Nash and Regina Spektor. That may, in fact, be the best description of an artist I’ve ever given here. Of course that may speak more to my lack of descriptive imagination than to my Adele explanation. Whatever.

i’d probably watch watch regina and kate make a lovechild
probably watch?
I hate you and claire for being in hawaii…..HAPPY NEW YEAR!
You’re in Hawaii? You lucky fuck.
If you called Adele the “bastard love child” of Kate Nash and Regina Specktor, it would’ve made it a great description. That “bastard” makes a huge difference.
Okay…my bad. Maybe you shouldn’t call Adele herself the “bastard love child.” You should probably call her work the “bastard love child.” Yeah. That would be great.
I just really like that phrase….”bastard love child.”
I recently realized that “Hometown Glory” = Sia’s “Breathe Me” like 100%. Not to say that Adele intentionally ripped off Sia, but there’s definitely a serious influence there, whether conscious or unconscious.
Am I the only to recieve a cease and desist email from XL regarding posting Adele tracks. They stuck it in my comment box too!!!
Oh, and Robert is 100% right. I posted them together to demonstate the fact.
