Hump Day Headlines

First off, keep the contest comments coming in the Mark Ronson post below. I’m liking what I’m seeing so far, but nobody has found the perfect duo/collab yet. I’m starting a new feature around here, which is to update you guys on the goings on in the music biz, as well as the blogosphere. Basically, I spend my whole day reading tons of music blogs so you don’t have to. So here goes:

Derek over at Good Weather for Airstrikes was kind enough to post a full live Girl Talk set from his show in Seattle. For those of you unfamiliar with a Girl Talk show, Gillis blends his album tracks with other cuts, clips, and verses, creating a completely unique and fresh show. Make sure to check out “Digital Hustlin'” (Rick Ross vs. Daft Punk and more) and Gillis’ updated “Bounce That”, which now features the instrumentals from Steve Winwood’s “Valerie” and Eric Prydz re-take “Call on Me”.

Kanye’s mother, Donda West, passed away due to complications from cosmetic surgery last Saturday. She was his the CEO of West Brands LLC, and will most definitely be missed. No word yet on whether Kanye will be cancelling any shows, but our collective hearts here at ATG go out to Kanye and his family. I can’t imagine what I’d do without my mom.

Elsewhere, hip-hop heavyweight Nas has two albums coming out in near future. One is his Greatest Hits (which is a must have for any hip-hop enthusiast), and the other is making headlines for it’s controversial title. Thoughts?

Finally, our sponsored show over at Cornell last Friday was a big success! Big thanks to Mobius Band and Middle Distance Runner for playing the show, and a very special thanks to Aaron for pretty much organizing everything. Expect more All Things Go sponsored shows coming up soon.

Love,
Zack

Aaron treated us like kings! I’m in Middle Distance Runner, and we were treated with the utmost hospitality by everyone involved in the show. If you’re in a band and Delta Chi asks you to do a show at Cornell, do it. They will even fill your rider! Huzzah for hummus!
