On Sunday morning, I was using a little handy-dandy feature of last.fm, which was a conglomerated radio feed of my musical preferences. For some reason, “Can’t Get You Out of My Head”, covered by Helena Noguerra came right out of nowhere (as my interests did not include certain bossa nova), and I fell completely in love with it. Her wonderful melodies mixed so well with the harmonies in the chorus, and the whimsical quality of all the na-na-nas pulled me in, but that rhythm is what has hypnotized me. This version is about ten times better than Kylie Minogue’s “original” (the only thing she contributed was her voice, so digitally polished).
This song has been in my head for the past three days, and now I must infect you.
Upon hearing this marvelous music, I further inspected Helena’s music, and it was less than satisfactory, much to my chagrin. The wonderful rhythms were nowhere to be heard, and her voice was nothing like the one I adored so much. Sadly, this is the only gem she offers.
