Dustin Kensrue – Please Come Home

Dustin Kensrue

You may not realize it when he’s screaming at the top of his lungs, but Thrice frontman Dustin Kensrue is cut out for folk music. After listening to the first few tracks off his upcoming solo effort, Please Come Home, I was amazed by how his voice could adapt to such a different style of music. Some of you may listen and say, “Hey, what’s so amazing about this?” Yes, this music may not be revolutionary and borrow a lot from popular artists like Bob Dylan. But the beauty lies elsewhere. Firstly, the music itself is refreshing and relaxing – Please Come Home is perfect if you just want to chill out or need background music while you’re studying. Second, as I mentioned earlier, it’s great to see Kensrue showcase another side of what his already-amazing talent. Lastly, Kensrue’s solo effort is the perfect bridge for listeners who wouldn’t usually venture into this genre. There are plenty of kids out there who listen to Thrice and other bands of the sort and remain comfortably within those boundaries. Please Come Home will hopefully draw those listeners out and reveal to them the simple beauty of a raspy voice and an acoustic guitar. So I encourage fans of…well, music I guess, to pick up Dustin Kensrue’s album when it comes out early next year.

i like this. it is like when Dante DeCaro of Wolf Parade (and ex-Hot Hot Heat) decided to do the Johnny and the Moon, his side project with folk music ^^

    total different music type!
